Working in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) we have completed the construction of a new 2160m2 waste management facility. Located in Watford, the building is being developed on land adjacent to one of the Council’s existing waste transfer site and recycling centres. We negotiated this project with HCC on a two stage basis, with us initially engaged on a PCSA.
The new building holds an industrial shredder capable of managing approximately 30,000 tonnes of bulky materials a year, vastly expanding their waste management capacity locally and increasing their ability to manage this type of waste. Once shredded in the new facility, the rubbish can then be incinerated at energy recovery facilities, rather than sent to landfill.
This forms part of HCC’s carbon net zero plans, as well as their ‘no waste to landfill by 2030’ pledge.
