Meet Richard, our Welfare Cleaner at the Shenstone School project in Belvedere!
We connected with Richard through our partnership with Lisa from Bexley Twofold. Richard has learning disabilities, and with the wonderful support from the staff at Bexley Twofold, he has been able to return to work after being made redundant from his previous job. It is essential for us to leave a positive impact on the communities we work in! With this site being in the same borough as our head office, it is great to see the opportunities and social value we can create for everyone around us.

“Thank you to Apex for creating a meaningful paid job role for Richard. This is a great success story as Richard started on 2 hours a week on a Friday as a welfare cleaner. Due to the support from Apex and Bexley Twofold Richard will now be going to work at the site 5 mornings a week. Richard has a learning disability and was made redundant after over 20 years in his previous role. He is extremely pleased to be back in the working world.
Bexley Twofold are a supported employment service from the London Borough of Bexley.
We support residents of Bexley to find and sustain paid employment – we currently support over 63 clients in work who collectively work over 640 hours a week. We are also working with 8 clients who are pre-employment and looking for the right opportunities. It is a free service to employers, and we act for both parties. We rely on good employers like Apex to be inclusive and give meaningful opportunities”
It has been a pleasure having Richard join the team, he consistently does a great job on-site, so we were pleased to offer him more hours. Richard is focused on his work, always early and very reliable!
