Work has begun on site at Waterdale Shredding Facility. Located in Watford, the new 1950m² facility is being delivered for Hertfordshire County Council and will host a shredder capable of managing approximately 30,000 tonnes of bulky waste a year. The building is being constructed on land adjacent to the Council’s existing waste transfer site and recycling centre and will significantly improve their waste management capability. We are delivering this project across two phases, with completion scheduled for December 2024. Phase one is underway, with new road infrastructure under construction and demolition of existing buildings. Phase two is programmed to start in June and sees the construction of the shredding facility plus completion of extensive landscaping and new weighbridges. Due to the nature of this facility, multiple drainage, odour and dust suppression systems have been designed into the scheme to meet environmental standards. We are excited to be working alongside long-term client Hertfordshire County Counciland RPSto deliver such an important piece of local infrastructure. We have enjoyed working collaboratively with the whole project team over the last year to help get this project to the delivery phase. Now we are on site we are looking forward to bringing our innovative and sustainable approach to aid the successful delivery of a high quality facility, that will safeguard waste management operations for the area for the future.
